@im: Grades are not the only thing. The Chapters are looking at the total package as well. Be sure to do your prep. Let's say a XYZ Chapter has a scoring sheet for a PNM. A 4.0 gives her 5 points. PNM was a Cheerleader, 5 points. PNM was the president of her student body, 5 points. PNM's mother was an XYZ, 5 points. PNM is a lousy at conversation, 0 points. PNM came to the parties like she just rolled out of bed, 0 points. You can see where if 20 points is a good score, the 5 points for being a 4.0 Scholar would be very valuable but possibly not critical.

KD, DG, Kappa, other great sororities MAY take a 3.1 as a grade risk IF that girl has 1) legacy 2) great test scores to combat the gpa 3) killer involvement
You can't just have bad grades in high school and be average every where else and expect a top house to be okay with it...

Hometown recs are probably the most important tool during rush, so find alumna for each sorority in your hometown and ask for recs. Have a good resume to give them. Good grades and school involvement are mucho important however, all sororities take "grade risks". The chi os took some girls last year that barely had grades to go thru rush and then barely got initiated and now hoping to not be on social probation next year. Happens in all of them tho.

Twin PNMs are exceptional just for being twins. Every chapter will try to pledge cute twins because of the cute overload factor. Could over rule grade cut offs if they had enough sparkle in other categories and the chapter could afford a hit to their grades. It is your total package value. The chapter has to see something in you. As the Greek Life site says, initial cuts are often based on grades because it's an easy early cut.
