how competitive is recruitment for out of stater?

Extremely. You need to know someone going into rush. Many sororities (or at least 6-7 of them) will not take girls they do not know about before rush. Being a legacy to a sorority will help your chances with that one, but is not a guarantee. You need to try to visit will still an senior and meet some girls, tell them you're coming next year, and that you're rushing. Then when you get here, really try to get out and meet people before rush starts, that way the girls in houses will know your name (in a GOOD way). You have a much higher chance of getting a good house that you want if someone is pulling for you. And as always, get recs, especially from people who went to Ole Miss!

I still think that Ole Miss needs one or two more sororities. Rush at most other schools is not this competitive.

I agree with Mary Jean most definately. Feel really sorry for great girls who get cut out because they did not know the right people..

Probabaly not..I would say get to know girls in classes with sorority t shirts on. Get involved on campus, get those who have connections to help too! Work on grades and activities

ok group just tell your daddy not to get into business with the actives daddies. Then you will be ok.

being a xo legacy does not guarantee you a bid for this chapter. they cut many legacies......this school is possibly the most competitive Greek system in the nation. make excellent grades, get involved in activities and make as many friends as you can. work on your appearance, be attractive and out-going for starters.
even if you don't get a xo bid, all of the other sororities are good and you can't go wrong with any of them.

two years ago then I went to the Katy Perry concert and saw how some of the Ole Miss membership acted in public. I made a better decision in a different sorority. I also have heard about the over drinking of some of the girls and decided that was not for me.
