You'll get it, don't worry. I'm not knocking on Pi Phi, they have some really cool girls, but Pi Phi in TX is SUPER competitive to get into and it's just not here. Not that they're bad, all sororities have plenty of good qualities, but they are not one of the most competitive houses to get into during rush. Girls from the south don't typically aim for Pi Phi.

I don't believe that you were told correctly it is almost mathmatically impossible that 80% were from out of state! The current data for this years freshman class was 34% from out of state! The class was around 3700 with 54%females so approx 2000 females if 34% were oos then that makes 680 oos females freshman! If 970 went thru rush then if everysingle oos female had to go thru (no way ) and that would still only be 70%. Kds pledge class is close to or over 70% in state. The math just doesn't add up for that statement. Not saying anything neg or positive just stating that math doesn't add up! Just the truth is the truth the "top tier " sororities are almost all in state!

I think "you'll get it, don't worry" is possibly a teeny bit over-secure and under-informed. As difficult as it appears for some to envision, Pi Phi has been having a tremendous rush, and finished with an extremely high percentage of THEIR top choices. Like any popular sorority with nice girls, the cuts can be painstaking. To say Pi Phi is "not one of the most competitive houses to get into" in simply incorrect or just MS-infomed.

Do you know why UM goes to Texas? Only the top 8-10% of any Texas highschool class qualifies for admission to Texas or Texas A&M. But - the top 30% of most Texas highschool classes have outstanding students with high GPAs and SATs. Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Arkansas, LSU all come to Texas and recruit.
