Spring parties are huge parties hosted each year by the fraternities. Each fraternity holds one.

If high school seniors know older girls and guys, they are often invited to come visit campus those weekend and are taken to the parties.

This is a key networking tool as it is a great way to meet lots and lots of actives.

Many sororities and fraternities start to form their bid lists in the spring and it's very important to get on the radars early!

If you didn't wait till later in the spring to contact them but they still added you, will not having gone or been to any events yet hurt your chances significantly?

It certainly puts you at a disadvantage, especially with the top houses who's lists are already about 75% completed.

So being on that list basically assures that they will give you a bid?

fraternity rush is much more laid back, especially in the spring and summer. Most of the summer parties are during orientation or in Jackson, Oxford, Memphis.

Don't worry if the fraternaties don't know you yet and you have not been invited. Rushing for fraternities starts once you get on campus. Get to know the rush chairmen and actives for the fraternities you are interested in. Start networking and get yourself invited to their house for lunch and dinner. Get to know the guys and let them know that you are interested if they are interested in you chances are good you will get a bid.

No bid is secure until you have it in your hand.

You'll get a bid from KA if you just walk through the doors...have you looked at their pledge classes? Tons of randomers.
