Everyone likes to act like the are the final word on sororities here are painfully truthful statements:
1.Rush is a numbers game you have to have connections. If every active member has a top girl not everyone of them will get a bid. Multiple actives from the same cities make it more manageable.
2. You need someone to be willing to go to the mat for you. It could be someone from your hometown,from camp or someone you just met that has a "rush crush" on you. But someone better be fighting for you.
3. In the prominently MS houses YES the alumni do all the fine tuning of the lists. DENY ALL YOU WANT BUT IT IS TRUE. The member may love you and you can still magically not appear on the next days list. The members may not like you but am old alumni may think you are precious and you get a bid.
4. The stereotypes on this site are OLD NEWS and don't really fit the current house makeups now.
5. Girls run excited to EVERY HOUSE on bid day, not just a few.
6. Girls do DROP every
house during rush yes some more than others but no house is universally loved or worshipped.
7.XO and AOPi disappear after rush truth.
8. It is the actives JOB to make you think they want you during rush but its their job not real life. If they were snobs before rush they still will be after. Cliques are real in certain sororities.

3. This is why it is so important to get your recs from alumni who actually attended ole miss. It can be done without alumni support, but usually not.
4. Actually the stereotypes are spot on. Really. Not 100% for every girl, but for most.
5. If you have even stood in front of the Lyceum on bid day you would know this is false. My mom was horrified last year! Girls break down in tears, fall down crying, or whatnot. If you have your heart set on one house and put them first on your pref card and they drop you and you have a bottom tier house instead, yeah, you cry!
6. Girls do drop houses, but return rates are much higher for top tier houses. Then mid tier, then bottom tier.

You Don't get it either. No one was cutting down anyone just stating facts as to why previous statements were not valid as showing "quality" of girls. Your argumemts do not either. Having good choreography can come from paid professional or old cheerleaders doesn't matter it doesn't equate quality of character. Requiring letter writing or blood giving also does not prove true character,anyone can do that and lack true moral fiber. I also believe that civic duty is important and college is not all about partying,however it is apparently that this struck a nerve and people are getting catty and defensive and missing the real point.
THE TOP TIER SORORITIES DO NOT GET EVERY SINGLE QUALITY GIRL LIKE THE TRY TO TELL EVERYONE. IN FACT THEY GET ALOT OF NON-QUALITY GIRLS,THEY HAVE AS MANY SCANDALS IF NOT MORE THAN THE OTHERS. EVERY SORORITY AT OLE MISS HAS A MIX OF GIRLS AND ARE FILLED WITH QUALITY!!!!! JUST ADMIT IT.

Please tell me how middle and bottom tier get all the quality girls? What have they done. And if you want to get into scandals, the lower the sorority the more scandals. The difference is that when something happens in a top tier house every other sorority makes the biggest deal about it because the are trying so desperately to bring them down. In lower sororities nobody cares because scandals are TOLERATED.

silly to keep stressing out about everyone NOT in the referenced sororities being bitter. I love that you think in your shallow little thoughts, every girl at Ole Miss wants to be just like you. I bet that buzz inside your head keeps YOU up at night because the rest of us are sleeping just fine!
Plenty of quality girls in EVERY sorority at Ole Miss. AND I mean EVERY sorority!

I'm beginning to doubt anyone in the top sororities that troll this site have any reading comprehension ability. No one ever said middle and lower get all the quality girls just that top tier is not solely top quality Ya'll are idiots that are so defensive and desperate. It was stated that quality girls are in every sorority. Geez. And no I didn't call all top tier girls idiots just the ones that come on here acting all pious.

One day you will find yourself in the real world where associations do matter. Networking is the best way to find a job. In the real world who you know if often more important that what you know. Keep telling yourself that ranks don't matter. Keep telling yourself associations don't matter. Keep telling yourself that public perception isn't important.
Social skills are probably the single most important thing you will learn as an undergrad.

Unless you're an insular snob who's concerned about being presented at the right debutante ball or joining the right country club, sorority connections are of far less importance than you say. Sure, Greek connections MAY give you leg up in finding a job, but to suggest that, say, a well-qualified Theta will be passed over in favor of a less-qualified DDD is ridiculous.
Your post says a hell of a lot more about you than about those you look down on.

thank you for stating the obvious to Wow! Wow, you go on thinking your top tier sorority at Ole Miss will bring some kind of "public perception" of greatness in the real world. We all know your major must not be rocket science.

Somebody is a little sensitive to the hot buttons. I respectfully disagree but appreciate your opinions.
There is a difference between top tier and bottom tier. Middle tier is much closer to top tier than to bottom. I'm not even in a sorority yet, but even I can see the subtle differences after hanging out with and living with these girls last year. I understand sophomores don't do as well during rush, and I will probably end up in a bottom tier, but a girl can hope for a top house, can't she?

Greek affiliation as a networking tool is probably more important among the NPHC groups.
