Moms help your new member daughters
by: MS
Congratulations! Your daughter is an Ole Miss sorority girl! That is a very special group and very prestigious. These are large member classes so give your girl some advice on how to navigate…
1. If you daughter is in a house that is highly stocked with legacies and high school friends and she is in one of these groups encourage her to meet some new friends because they can have wonderful new conversations and travel to wonderful new places together !
2. If your daughter is in a house that is traditionally legacy and high school based and she is not in one of these groups-make sure she reaches out to others in her same situation and encourage her to be very active where it counts-sisterhood events, chapter meetings and philanthropy.
3. If your daughter starts to feel like all the other new members were already roommates or on the same hall and she is not in this situation. Find just one other girl in this same situation and together they start navigating the chapter together
4. This is a tough time for girls that are not as outgoing. If that was your daughter’s vibe in high school encourage her to make the effort-expecting the chapters that are this large to treat her like a toddler and put her into a playgroup is unrealistic. She will be calling crying if you and she thought getting into a house was an instant social life recipe. It takes networking and is a life skill that will serve her well going forward.
