Wow! What a week here’s some thoughts

Your connections matter. If you don’t know or are connected with at least 10 girls in some of these house either via HS or something don’t expect to get in

Grades matter especially for the first round

If you are not from Mississippi Good luck! Don’t get your hopes up on what people say are top tier houses. They look for their people unless you know people.

What they call the “top” tier only reflects this Mississippi people. Very few OOS
They are all the same the rankings really don’t matter except for those girls on the house already trying to make it seem like they’re better. A bit of high school drama going on there

All the other sororities are pretty much all the same. I didn’t find anything they really stood out that put any sorority better than the other. Houses were all nice, some are being remodeled and some are looking to remodel. If you pay attention to what people are saying you will find yourself lost. I saw every kind of person at every house. None were all anything.

So when I read top tier, mid tier or lower tier I now think Mississippi, the ones who didn’t make the Mississippi cut, and those who are definitely from OOS.

Not so sure why geography matters so much here. OOS girls are just as kind as I state girls.

There are also some sororities that have more of a Christian vibe so they might be labeled as mid-lower but Jesus wasn’t liked either so that makes sense.

Bud Day here we come.

every state school selects in state girls first as they are more likely to become active alums-proximity bias is real. plenty of oos girls are in top tier schools at ole miss do not fool yourself. I find other sec girls at other campuses complain as well feeling they are iced out of top houses. but the reality oos girls are in the top houses at those campuses as well. I think sometimes to lessen the blow of not getting a top tier house people say they only gave bids to legacies or in state. everybody thinks they are, or their child is top tier, and you are all no doubt. so, houses have to go by connections as they are looking for the best fits and girls that will not drop out. plenty of Christians in every house. truth is in 4 weeks it will not matter as you will love your house regardless of tiers. as you state they all do the same things and at ole miss there are no bad choices. enjoy your bid time and do not look back but forward to your new home.

Sorry but no chapter selects based on alumnae potential. That's something that just happens from being insular and perpetuating itself. It's all about high school and hometown, not what happens down the road.
