Theta is not a party house or one that top fraternities mix with. This site is rampant with miss information.

Except of course for DG. They suck. Truly.

They accept girls for their personalities not necessarily their looks or daddy's wallet

@ummm I know for a fact girls get cut from theta, over 400 girls were released from rush, and I know girls who got into other houses but not theta.

Theta is an awesome house and for sure have that party rep that guys love. What people on this site don't understand is how Theta is no longer bottom tier. Their past two pledge classes have really turned things around for them. I know. A lot of girls who chose theta over another house. Also they have a lot of legacys.

While visiting Oxford for the very first time this past spring, we asked our waiter (who claimed to be an ole miss student) to give us the "down low" on the various sororities. We were of course joking and being silly, but because he was giving us advice on classes and professors and local watering holes, we thought why not ask about sororities as well. He listed Tri delta, chi o, and KD as the best. He said that kappa had fun girls and phi mu wore too much makeup. Then he actually warned us about theta. Said wearing a theta tshirt was embarrassing and not even thetas wore there letters everyday like the other sororities did. Even random people on the streets say that theta is not a good sorority.

It's hard for a pnm not to listen to these people.

and probably a liar. Theta is a great sorority! They certainly must have better things to do than come on here and rank sororities. You don't see too many Thetas sorority bashing on here. The only sororities you see on here are so called top tiers all vying for the same position. It is pitiful and sad, just like the "popular group" in high school! What will you ever do after graduation?

Have had that rep. A few years back but they have really changed things up these past years. If you don't believe me then go meet some of them.

As a Theta let me address this. We compete for girls closely with AOPi and Pi Phi and other OOS-friendly sororities. So whoever said "nobody throws away a KD, XO, or DDD bid for Theta" would be correct because girls who go to those houses don't fit into the theta personality (They're also not throwing away those bids for AOPi or Pi Phi either). For the girls who said that we're a disappointment on Bid Day and embarrassed to wear letters... just stop. Years ago that used to be the case, but after these last few pledge classes that isn't true. There are always girls who are disappointed on Bid Day at every sorority and those pictures are NOT an adequate representation of our Bid Day activities. Theta has come a long way to improve their image on campus (Theta Encore is one of the most successful University events and the 9 Order of Omega Awards). Thetas have recently raised the GPA requirements to receive a Bid. As for the partying, Thetas are fun! The social agenda is just fine. Just because girls in some houses look down on who we swap with doesn't mean we're bad, it means we're different. As before certain people belong in KD, DDD, and XO and likewise fraternities are the same. You don't see a million thetas at KA's Old South but you do at Pike formal because Pikes and other more out of state houses are where Thetas hang out.

Theta's ranked bottom because that's how it's traditionally been at Ole Miss. And as we all know Ole Miss is very slow to change. Thetas know that and although it sucks that some people can't get past social rankings, that's the way it is. They're a great sorority to be a part of (as are every house on campus!) and PNMs should most defiantly not "fear" a Theta bid. There's a lot of genuine love, sisterhood, and fun waiting for anybody who goes Theta. Being "bottom" at Ole Miss isn't a horrible thing like it is at other schools.
