are people prejudice?

Do people discriminate against northerners at ole miss? I know my uncle went to miss state and said everyone called him a Yankee, and he's from iowa. I'm from Branson missouri which I don't consider Yankee territory because if you have ever been here there are rebel flags flying left and right and is home to the Dixie stampede among other southern and confederate attractions and traditions. Will people discriminate against me or call me a Yankee? And will this hinder my chances of getting into a soriorty ??

I think discriminate is the wrong word. We don't care where you are from. The only thing that will hurt you during recruitment is that you may not know many actives in the house. With no connections you will be at a disadvantage.
