XO, KD, DDD, and for the most part DG take certain types of girls (varies for each sorority, but these cross rush) from big schools in Jackson, Tupelo, Hattiesburg, the coast, the Delta, and Memphis. They take mostly private school and well known girls from good public schools (there are some public schools these sororities will not rush from). There are always girls from very small towns too, but they went private. The OOS girls pretty much meet these criteria too. The rest don't seem to pull from certain places. They have girls from all these places too, but typically don't get first picks (Phi Mu and Kappa do sometimes).

I was from a OOS and went to a private school when I went through rush. I pref'd XO,KD, and Kappa and got my first choice! I just made a point to get to know girls before rush. if you do the same then you should be fine!

Keep an open mind, but chances are yes. Just look at Pi Phi, AOPi, Theta, and ADPi. You'll end up at one of those on Pref unless you know somebody pulling for you in a higher house. The "bottom" 4 are the only sororities that give OOS girls a good chance rather than making blanket cuts for not knowing you.

I joined campus crusades and young life. A friend of mind joined the yearbook committee. Another friend joined the campus republicans club. There are literally hundreds of clubs to join. Sorority girls are all over campus. When you go to orientation you will get to sign up for any of the clubs you are interested in. Join whichever strikes your fancy. Meet the girls that have similar interests as you do.
Don't join a club just because you think you will meet sorority girls there if you have no interest in the actual club! You will end up with a bunch of friends that you have nothing in common with.
