u-haul u

by:

I know ole miss used to be called u-haul university because of the number of girls who dropped out of school when they didn't get bids or didn't get the bids they wanted. Does this still happen? I think if I don't get a bid, or if I don't get a bid to a house that I know girls in that I would seriously consider transferring! Does anyone know girls that this has happened to?

haha, yes. When my mom went to school here (80s), her dorm would literally empty out. Now they do it the week of the school not returning tuition if you skip out because of this. However, they moved it up this year so I don't think that applies anymore meaning more people are going to.

Because you don't like the bid you got is melodramatic and silly (I can kind of understand it, though, if you wanted to be Greek and got completely dropped).

That said, is Ole Miss really that hard up for tuition money that they can't just do recruitment before school starts? (They moved it up for fall, but only like a week.) And does the delay really stop that many girls from leaving?

It's really not that bad any more. The few girls who got dropped completely and threatened to leave ole miss were quickly picked up by ADPi. I only know of one girl who left school completely. She received a bid to aopi and was completely rude about it. She stuck it out for a while but made no friends and left ole miss after fall semester.
