How welcoming are sororities to transfers hoping to affiliate ? Especially if you aren't from a big school within the SEC? If you know a few girls and are well-rounded, will they care if the Greek system you came from was not huge at all; does that make you less "deserving" I guess is what I'm trying to ask. Still coming from a school I'm the South, born in the South and very familiar with Ole Miss

Totally depends on the sorority. So often girls will go through rush at smaller schools to secure bids to top ole miss sororities with the intention of transferring in. This practice is frowned upon. Every chapter has different types of girls and just because you jell with one chapter doesn't mean you will fit in another chapter. Every girl would be individually considered and voted upon

But, there are also sororities that will welcome affiliated with open arms. Without know you or your sorority, it would be impossible to say whether or not it will be easy or hard.

It's not one of those situations where I tried to avoid ole miss rush, personal finances just made it hard on my parents to send me to ole miss, especially knowing I wanted to rush. They have made it possible for me to now attend and I really want to be a part of the Greek system, as it was a major factor in why I loved the school, definitely not the only thing but it was something I looked forward to! I guess to avoid saying specifically which house I'll just ask about ΦΜ, ΚΔ, XO, and ΚΚΓ

Nobody here is going to be able to answer your questions. You will probably need to contact your sorority directly and have them tell you what their affiliation policy is. I hate to bring this up, because the Tri delts don't deserve the negative press that is sure to follow, but a few years back they allowed a transfer in from a smaller school. This girl went on to create a huge scandal that took the Tri delts an entire year to live down. All of the sororities you mentioned have standards. They have gpa requirement. If you fit in and they don't see you as a potential liability then you shouldn't have any problems. Be warned that a few years back I had a friend who was a chi o transfer. She was never fully accepted. Pledge classes are tight and once cliques are formed its hard for others to fit in.

Also, you brought up that your parents had financial problems last year and couldn't send you to ole miss. You do know that girls pay upwards of $8,000 a year to be in a sorority here? Dues, fees, meals, social event, etc. You need to know what you are getting yourself into before you commit.
