will i be welcomed?
by: LegacyI am a triple legacy to one of the top houses at ole miss. My grandmother, mother, and currently my older sister were all members of the same house. (Sister currently) All attended/attend ole miss. It's a pretty good bet that I will get a bid as well. The problem is that I'm not as pretty as my sister and overweight. I know with my legacy status, that really doesn't matter, but after I get my bid will the other new members ignore me or will they treat me as one of them? Would I be better off trying for a lower house where there are more girls like me? My sister is really pretty and popular and easily makes friends, I am her opposite. (But a lot smarter with better grades). What should I do?

OK, I'll bite. Assuming this is a real post, get ready for it, sweetie. If you are overweight & unattractive, no legacy status will get you into a "top" house at Ole Miss. Shine up your personality and start looking at the other houses. They are GREAT CHAPTERS where you might fit in better, even though you sound like you have already written them off. If you are LUCKY, you will get a bid from another house. Get rid of this ridiculous attitude "after I get my bid" BS.

Please these answers are hysterical! The so called top(KD & XO) have way more overweight no personality legacies than any other sororities. You described yourself not me. So if that's what you want and your sister is in there you are fine. You actually have less of a chance with every other sorority except Theta or ADPi. If you have no connections,social skills or looks your only true chance is the legacy sorority. Any other statement is sugar coated. If you get in your legacy house prepare to have a small group of accepting sisters. My suggestion is get some confidence and social skills before rush.

Do you really want to be in a sorority where you know they might have given you a bid solely because of your legacy status? Do you want to continue to live in your sister's shadow or maybe pledge elsewhere & learn to be the best version of yourself? Something to consider.

Every sorority, from Tri delta on down to ADPi have "legacies". To say that won't help her get a bid is false. She may have a point about not having many friends once she gets in, but I doubt that. In my house, all the legacies hang out together and have fun! Who cares if not everyone is nice to her? She will still have plenty of friends who are.
