Legacy Percent

Does anyone know the percentage of Legacies in Ole Miss sororities? Does a non legacy even have a chance in the top tier?

I feel like legacies don’t matter as much as they used to, unless you are a legacy of that specified ole miss chapter it really doesn’t hold much weight. As for a “top tier” house many girls get those houses who are not legacies but you most likely have to know someone in them.

And LOTS of legacies have no interest in the legacy chapter, or ultimately choose another chapter after giving it lots of thought.

If you are brought up surrounded by Ole Miss alums and/or their friends, then you are raised with the mindset that only certain letters will do. It's still an ambition among this crowd, that begins at birth, for daughters to go to Ole Miss and be a member of a particular sorority, so the stakes are high for these girls and their families. There is stress and judgement from their peers, families, and family friends. Girls used to leave Ole Miss in shame immediately after rush when they didn't get the right house. But when she gets in then she has met the expectation and dream held for her entire life. Success, everyone is so pleased and proud, aaaaaand she's done for life. This mindset still drives what is considered "top tier."

Is this what you are after? This particular badge of honor? Why?

A pretty, smart, sweet, kind, well-mannered girl is TOP TIER. She doesn't need a set of letters to proclaim that to the world. Assess your goals for coming to Ole Miss and joining a sorority, and perhaps re-inform yourself of what you think is really right and "Top" for you.

That’s really sad for those girls. I have heard that though.
