Why does this school have a high transfer out rate

AFAIK there are three main reasons: They didn't get into their better choice school so they come here as a place holder and try again; they came here for the imagined social scene and find out it's actually kind of closed off and small town backwards; they drop out of college completely because they weren't that serious about it in the first place.
