Which sororities are the 'southern ones' and the 'northern ones'?

I heard there are certain sororities that have more girls from the south and some that have more from the north?

Is this true? If so, why is it like that?

Southern sororities: Chi O, Tridelt, and DG. KD has also been mostly southern girls in the past, but this year they took northern girls.

Northern sororities: aopi, theta, and Pi phi

Kappa and Phi Mu tend to have a mix, they have a variety of OOS girls!

I personally joined a "northern" sorority because I felt much more at home during recruitment!

i have to disagree with this and I'm sure anyone else would. First, I would put KD as a southern sorority for sure they don't take girls from the north. But what I'm really trying to get at here is that Pi Phi is NOT a northern sorority they take a TON of girls from the south and from texas.

mean necessarily where girls are from. I think of the southern sororities being very old south, from older families, maybe older money. They take girls from the north or TX still, but these girls normally fit their more classic image. The more northern sororities tend to have more girls from other places, but definitely still full of the south too. These groups are a little more relaxed and typically not concerned with status, like what school you came from, etc. I wouldn't break them down by calling them southern and northern though, since there are girls from every where in every chapter (more in some chapters than others). I would call them them traditional and new school groups. Like people said above, traditional groups are XO, DDD, KD and DG. Kappa and Phi Mu are a mix. AOPi, Pi Phi, Theta, and ADPi are more new school. And yes, it does correspond with the "ranks" at Ole Miss, it's a very traditional school.
