think about why you want to join a sorority...
by: ThoughtfulYou need to think about why you are joining a sorority. Is it for life long relationships and alumnae activity? If so, think about where you plan to end up. Where I am from, the top tier sororities here are bottom tier and their alumnae groups are almost non-existent. So even if I could have receive a bid from TriDelt or ChiO, joining a sorority at Ole Miss would have pretty much ended when I graduated. So I am not top tier but happy where I am at. Awesome sisters here and I love going home on breaks and already having the alumnae embracing me into their group.

I agree some what, but also disagree too. I'm from Texas and in Texas kappa, pi phi, theta, ddd, and chi o are all really big and popular. It did factor into my decision not to rank KD after skits, but not enough to care about which alumnae groups were going to be popular after I graduate. I wanted a great sisterhood while I was in college with girls I had something in common with. Please girls, don't pick a sorority you don't fit into because their alumnae group is bigger in your hometown. Chose a group of girls you can see standing next to you when you get married. Besides, you might get a job after graduation in a city or town that is not where you grew up!

I agree completely with what you are saying. You HAVE to fit in and be comfortable with the group you are in on campus. I was just trying to make the point that sorority life can be a lifelong experience with the friends you make at school as well as great support in your life after college.
