This is pretty spot on, but even the top four will take exceptional girls from out of state. Follow your heart and you will find a home you love! Best advise anyone can give you is to find a sorority you fit in with. Don't think you will only be happy in a top sorority. Even girls in the so called lower tiers LOVE their sisters and have the same wonderful experiences as the so called top tier. Because recruitment is so late in the semester, you will meet girls in your dorms who will all get bids to different sororities. We are all friends with each other.

I know a couple of girls from the upper midwest in the top four, and the girls themselves are nothing remarkable

It's not that you are from out of state, its that you are from Michigan (a northern state). Girls from Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and other southern states don't have as much to worry about. This is a southern school with a deep sense of southern pride. Northern culture often clashes with the southern way of life. Don't get upset when you are cut by some sororities and concentrate on those who are more open to accepting girls from other areas of the country. There are sororities on campus who pride themselves on their diversity. Aim for one of those, you will probably be more comfortable there anyway.

"Top 3" according to which houses get the biggest return rates during rush. They are the sororities that MOST girls want to return to and the sororities that MOST girls are disappoined when they don't get in. My Great Aunt Sally's sorority sisters don't even go here, how in the world would they know?

All one would have to do to back up this claim is to hang out in Martin Hall during rush week! It is pretty easy to see which houses the happiest girls get back and it's easy to see the tears from the girls who were cut from the top houses. "I'm so sad all I got back are the top houses" -SAID NO ONE EVER! Tears are usually reserved for girls who get cut from top and mid tier houses. When all you have left are bottom houses, it's pretty obvious what the girls are thinking my the mascara running down their faces. I've seen girls drop top tier houses in favor of mid tier houses, but non are ever sad to return and none ever pass on a bid! Plenty of girls passed on bids from bottom tier houses this year in favor of ADPi. AND you can totally tell which houses have the highest return rates based on who has to make to biggest cuts! We talk you know! We know who has to make big cuts and who doesn't!
