@ha rich in the south? Mississippi is the poorest state in the country. The other poorest states are also in the south. It might "appear" like the southern girls in DDD are rich, but if they took their current salaries to NY they wouldn't be able to buy nearly what they can afford in the boonies.

It's the total truth. it's harsh, sorry, but if you're from MS or Memphis and have any kind of positive reputation you end up in DDD,XO,KD,DG and maybe Kappa/Phi Mu. If you go lower than that.....sucks.

tier, but it's the truth. Guys from traditional/privileged/well-connected families that are in better fraternities (As in EX/EN/Phi Delt/KA/ATO/Kappa Sig, but the last two depending on the guy) probably aren't going to bring home a girl that couldn't even make it into Phi Mu at Ole Miss. Sorry, but there's some reason you are in AOPi/Pi Phi/Theta/ADPi, and that top tier boy and his family will know you didn't make the cut. Harsh, yes, but we do things traditionally here. The people that don't understand or fight against that are the ones on the outside, and in the bottom.

Hilarious post. I'm an oos student who loves Ole Miss & never misses a chance to share my passion for my school. However don't worry about "splaining how things are to us" We have plenty of dates from great guys. We're not looking for an MRS degree & we're sure as hell not considering some privileged mama's boy who fears he can't "sell" the girl he's crazy about to his family a long term catch.......thankfully the small minded ones you speak of are a very small number & quite easy to spot/avoid.

HAHA "well-bred men" more like "country hick men". If a guy would only date a girl for their letters that just shows they don't have a world view and probably aren't going to make it past working a low paying job in Mississippi (Mississippi is known to have the lowest pay in the country).

Pi Phi, AOPi, Theta, and ADPi--Real talk and Sorry bottom are right, even if they put it harshly. Whenever a KA and EN formal have just as many Theta and AOPi dates as they do KD and DDD....then we'll talk. I mean who would you rather tell your friends your dating (JUST based off the stereotype that comes with the name, obvi every guy is different), a EX or a Beta? Works for girls too.

I bet you are an education major seeking your MRS. You are a shining example of everything wrong at Ole Miss…most of us don't want the same guys you fancy. We want intelligent, nice men not little boys worried about what their mothers think of sororities. Make the cut? Geeze, I wouldn't want to be your sister. Some of us have higher values.

I'd hope a guy goes for a girl for who she is, not her letters. But there's a connection between KD and Sig Chi, Ka and Chi O, Phi Delt and DDD and so on. When all your brothers/sisters have dates to formal with a particular sorority, it makes it easy to invite someone from the same one so there's a more likely match there. A couple of houses are sought after by guys that care because the majority of those girls had to make pretty good decisions to get there. Not that there aren't equally great girls everywhere.

@hurts huh? What you don't understand is that NO it actually doesn't hurt. What you can't seem to understand is we don't feel we're missing out by not being with someone who is judging us by our letters. I can't speak for everyone but I think our problem with this thread is being told that we give a #%÷$ about those values. Sadly I don't think we're arguing that your type exists, just reminding you that we're happy to be overlooked by people of "your class" .

Speaking as an OOS student, 95% of the US does not give a flying F what sorority you were in at Ole Miss or any other school! So if some southern hothouse flower of a mom is gonna have the vapors because I'm not in the "right" sorority, whatevs!
