don’t believe everything you read on here! yes, SOME people view them as less desirable houses, but they are other people’s top houses! i, personally, have nothing against either house, i just cut them because the conversations i had at those houses didn’t flow as well or as naturally as the house that i ended up picking. there is absolutely nothing wrong with adpi or aopi, but you’ll find that out during recruitment. don’t base cuts off of greek rank; base them off where you feel the most at home!!

Nothing is wrong with either. Every house is great. I loved aoii when I went through. people just come on here to start drama. I bet you none of the people posting negative comments go to Ole Miss or are in a sorority here. Go in open-minded and you will end up in a great house no matter where that is.

Some sororities cut basically all out of state girls. Aoii and adpi don’t make decisions based on that so in state girls view them as inferior. Honestly if you want a real community and don’t plan to choose your house based on perceived popularity and ranks you’ll enjoy these houses.

The "top" tier have more Ole Miss history and LOTS of Ole Miss legacies. Their alums are more involved and have more influence on the decisions. They tend to be made up of a mix of Ole Miss legacies (this is a large number), some non Ole Miss legacies, and friends from Mississippi hometowns and high schools. Having more Mississippi connections and stronger alumni gives them the local advantage of claiming top tier - and the Mississippi Moms take this claim VERY seriously. Occasionally they will look at non connected PNMS - but that will make up a small percentage. Girls from these sororities will more than likely stay in Mississippi their entire lives, and need to be in these sororities because it is very relevant for their entire life. Saying this though does not mean the girls in these sororities aren't amazing. They tend to keep the highest GPAs, so they are smart.
The Middle Tiers have also been here a while so they are also able to pull in larger numbers of Ole Miss legacies, they also tend to be more willing to take in non Ole Miss legacies, and will take a strong look a non connected PNMs to make up the difference. These are excellent sororities, but don't have as strong an alumni group so the alumni aren't politicking as relentlessly as the upper tier. These sororities always seem to make the Mississippi Moms nervous.
The Lower tiers are going to recruit the non-connected PNMS. There are Old Miss legacies who come for these sororities, but it's mostly OOS with strong resumes but not with a Mississippi connection, non Ole Miss legacies to the upper tier sororities, and sometimes a few from the less urban Mississippi areas. The Moms like to bash this group but they're all excellent sororities - just not as "Mississippi" connected. Lower tiers don't have the strong alumni groups because members tend to move all over the place after graduation. These are going to be more diverse - probably closer to what you would see in normal sororities not so tied to the 'Southern' traditions. Most of the girls in these sororities don't care about the tiers, it wasn't an issue for them before they got here and they still don't care after.
The top tier Moms like to talk about how rich the top tiers are - but honestly OOS pay much more than instate students, so there's probably more wealth in the middle and lower tiers, they just aren't obsessed with talking about it.

AOII raised their overall house GPA and now have one of the highest requirements on campus. If you have lower grades they will cut you just like the other houses. They also have one of the best sisterhoods on campus. They just aren’t as “popular” because they are actually a diverse group and didn’t grow up in Mississippi getting groomed for rush from the age of 3. ADPI has one of the best philanthropy rounds last year. I have heard mixed things about their sisterhood, but it is still a good house.

Let’s be honest, no one goes into recruitment with aopi or adpi as their top houses
