Why don't any of the historically african american sororities and fraternities have houses?

Phi Beta Sigma had a house from the late '80s until a couple of years ago -- it had to be torn down because it was no longer safe to live in.

AKA also used to rent a small house on sorority row. Not sure why they gave it up.

Houses are really, really expensive to maintain. Few home owners are going to risk renting to a Greek organization due to damage concerns. Some of the BGLO groups have such a small membership that it would be a real financial hardship to afford to own a house. They need some alumni with very deep pockets to help, if they want a permanent house.

NPHC groups don't have houses most places, they operate very differently.

The NPHC sororities had small houses (former housing for faculty) on Sorority Row across from Northgate Apartments. When Ole Miss built the Residential College and added the lake, they tore down the houses.

I've never heard that story before, but this is just my second year on campus. Can somebody confirm or deny?

Can someone else confirm. Seems sketch. If the houses had any value, like the houses currently on sorority row, they would have never been torn down.
