Rushing out of state
by: FLI am coming from Orlando, Florida to ole miss in the fall, and i really want to rush. I don’t know anyone at the school, and I’m not from MS. I also have no connections. Will it be hard to get in a sorority and make friends?

Great advice above. Get your letters in and come to school with an open mind. Go through rush with that open mind and see what you think for yourself. This is a competitive rush, but women who are engaged and interested in the process and in all the houses have a good chance of finding the right fit. Don't let anyone else ruin your rush with negative talk or gossip.

the objective of rush is to have everyone in a house. as long as you make a decent effort, you'll land in a house. It's like gym/p.e. class. Just show up and try a little, and you wont' fail. You don't need to know anyone or be a legacy or know how to dunk a basketball.
with that said, be realistic. top houses are 90% legacy based and 10% home town based...realize this isn't going to happen. Bottom houses are almost guaranteed. Mid tier houses are not easy, but certainly possibly.
The best thing you can do is follow/reach out to anyone from Orlando or the alike area. There aren't many. They went through what you will go there. They'll love reaching out with a helping hand.
I'm in a mid tier. Not from FL but from another far away state. Met a girl in the same state. Didn't know anyone else in my house, my convos were average at best, but I know she pulled for me hard and I got in bc of her.
