OP here: I agree with the above poster. Social media is important in the sense that it can allow the actives to get to know you a little bit better but not being "insta famous" will not break you. If you do want to be more active on social media, use it as a marketing tool to allow the sororities to see how great you are without trying too hard. Going on a vacation this summer? Maybe post some cute photos from here. Or going to a graduation party/wedding? Post some photos from there. Also, you can make your instagram public this summer so that girls can start following you. However, social media can only HELP you if your social media is clean. Do not post questionable photos/stories (beach photos are fine if they are tasteful). And if there is anything questionable up right now, delete it before this summer/ ASAP because actives do look girls up on social media to match names to a face. A lot of girls clean up their social media right before rush starts but that is already too late. Takeaway: use social media to help you and show the sororities who you are. Keep it fun but also tasteful.

How important is social media?
little.
It helps a little if you follow actives, like their pics, they see you. So once rush starts they at least have seen you before.
But certainly not a deal breaker or anything.
