is it too early to start sending rec letters? should i just keep them and wait a little bit to send or send them now

What are you taking about? The rec writers send them in. PNM's don't send, or even have, their own recs.

It is a little early to send out packets to the people you are asking to write your recs but not too early to decide who you want to contact for each house.

You should worry more about school than greek life. Without having a decent gpa your rec letters won’t mean nothing.
