big/little gifts?

My daughter goes to another university whose GR page is has little activity, so I was hoping you OM ladies could help. It seems like my girl's sorority really goes all out for big/little - Phi mu, I think they actually call it Pink Christmas? Maybe all the sororities do this today at every university, but it seems like a LOT more than I remember.
Here's my question ` Are the littles supposed to have a have a gift or gifts for the big? gbig? What if there is an aunt? If yes, suggestions??

The grandbig/grandlittle/extendedfamily BS can get ridiculous and out of hand really quick. IDK what an "aunt" even is. This is all supposed to be about continuing to welcome the new member class until they get initiated with the Big being a part of that. That should be the end of it until the new member gets her little next year. Lots of times there's not really much of a relationship between big and little except in name only. So don't get wrapped up too much in it. It gets expensive and there's only so much sorority swag anyone can handle.
