gpa cutoffs

by: ??

I know Panhellenic website says if you’re a 3.0 or above then you’re in the green zone...
What is the gpa cutoff for KD, DG, Tri Delt and Chi O??

go to the academic report for Spring 2019

Highest Chapter GPA's in order by sorority

1) XO
2) Tri Delta
3) KD
4) Phi Mu
5) Pi Phi
6) DG
7) KKG
8) AOPi
9) ADPi
10) Alpha Phi

Grades are important,if you are not in the green on GPA at recruitment- connections and killer resume may help you but they will put you at a disadvantage going in. The problem is a lot of these sororities have GPA requirements continuously as a pledge and active or you will be on probation with no social.

GPA cut offs are private membership information and not publicly discussed. They may not even be carved in stone for a chapter. If a girl rushes with outstanding qualities and activities, maybe a legacy, but a somewhat less than stellar GPA, there may be an exception or two made.

It should not be private membership information when there are a lot of girls investing time, money and energy into this and they are extremely limited with a 3.2

The higher the GPA = more options. Easy as 1-2-3. Cuts are much easier because of grades and lack of recs than anything else.

I don't know for Ole Miss, but the GPA cutoff for the top sororities at UARK is 3.5. Anything below is considered a grade risk. Some will take give legacies a 3.3 for the cutoff.

Exactly the reason I asked this question! If a 3.1, 3.2 is too low for several houses, then it needs to be transparent so a bunch of girls in that range need to be made aware of first round cuts.
The website should not say that a 3,0 is a green zone and options are not likely limited bc it’s untrue.

I wish I would have known that my 3.2 will get me cut from half of the houses. I would have saved my money, my time, and invested my energy in another direction.
Panhellenic website is misleading about gpa ranges and first round cuts are grades cuts.
If all pnms were aware of this then I’m sure a lot of these girls w these gpas would save themselves the trouble!

Someone needs to call it for what it is!
You are not going to get a bid from KD, DG, Tri Delt, Chi O with a 3,2 and most likely not Phi Mu or Pi Phi either

A 3.3 is a B+ 87-89 on a 4,0 scale. Could be someone that got all A and and B grades but had some in the 80-83 or 90-93 range. It isn’t a bad gpa.

You should look at grades and GPA this way-if your GPA doesn't equal the semester average GPA of an organization, you are most likely going to get cut from that sorority. For example, you will probably get cut from KD if your GPA isn't greater than or equal to 3.429 (the semester average GPA for Spring 2019). Obviously this isn't set in stone, but it's an easy way to look at it. Of course there are exceptions to this "rule", legacies, hometown best friends, but for most girls, this is the realty that they face.

This sounds like very sound advice. Most houses are in the 3.2-3.4 range. The top in Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 was at 3.4i+\- a little.

It’s actually not too smart a move to cut girls with 3.0-3.5 GPA. The “top tier” sororities are selling themselves short not going after some of those awesome, well-rounded girls.
Ole Miss admissions actually has the most lenient GPA requirements of all of the SEC. Students who can’t get into their own state SEC universities go to Ole Miss because it’s so easy to get accepted.

I’m sure there are some great, well-rounded girls who fall in that 3.0-3.5 range that will get cut from houses. At the same time though there are plenty of great, well-rounded girls with a 3.5+ for “top tier” houses to choose from. They’re not selling themselves short, they’re “top tier” for a reason. And shouldn’t it be a good thing that other houses get an opportunity to pick from great girls that do fall at that 3.5 range and below?? Not everyone can be in the same 3 houses people!!

If your high school GPA is 3.0 you should be thinking more about what you're going to do to adapt to the added academic pressures and expectations of college life in general, not how your rush will go.

There’s nothing wrong with a 3.0.

I just posted this on another thread. You’re comparing apples to oranges here. Like I said , anyone coming out of my high school with a 3.0 or higher worked their butts off. Can’t compare an elite college prep school gpa w a gpa from a MS public high school.
Surely these houses know the difference? Lol
