oos chances

What chapters are most likely to take a girl from OOS (in the South, though) with an incredible resume - involved in high school activities, cheer, volunteering, attractive, 4.0+ gpa, not a legacy to any other sorority BUT doesn’t know many people at all? Seriously, the total package, but the only downfalls (if you would even call them downfalls) are OOS, and no connections.
Do any of the “in state” sororities even look at girls like this? What about the other chapters?
Since recruitment is several weeks after school starts, do the actives try to meet the PNMs before recruitment starts? Or, are the even allowed?

Hey, you sound like you’d be a great addition to any house! I’d be open minded to all houses, accept every invitation, and list both houses after pref. The reason I say this is that I think PNMs are surprised that ALL houses are competitive. I’m on the rush team in a newer house and sadly we have girls who’d like to join that we have to let go. The reject talk on this site is not only wrong but leads new students astray. You are all but guaranteed a bid if you see rush through, but that requires leaving any stereotypes at the door and trying to make new friends. I hope I get a chance to meet you and I welcome you to Ole Miss. Don’t let Negativos shape your rush experience or steal your joy.

(1) are you a ole miss legacy? go straight to top tier, if not keep reading
(2) legacy to other schools? go straight to mid tier.
if you match/hit it off with actives then mid tier is possible
unfortunately sorority applications are not college applications. no one cares about your gpa or prom queen at some random school. legacy first, connections second. without either you're looking at the bottom tier.

OOS gets to come in with a sparkling resume that no one can question and 6 weeks of best behavior . In state has to worry about where their mom went to school and what house she was in and if someone is holding a grudge over something that happened in high school. Oh to be an OOS PNM!

Outsiders like you need to stop pretending that you understand how legacy and connections work, and what they even are. To the OP: your daughter is trying to find a home and a sisterhood, and if she is the 'total package' that you think she is then all she needs to do now is be sweet to everyone she meets before rush, be on her best behavior, and look polished and have good conversations during recruitment. Don't worry about in-state or OOS because there's nothing anybody can do about that.
