house renovations???
by: pnm1888So I have been following all of the sororities on social media and I noticed KKG and KD are both getting new houses. I LOVEEE kappas blueprint (KD just looks like a smaller copied version for those of you who haven't seen), but if I am going through rush in the fall, when would these houses be completed? I dont want to be houseless until like my junior year... does anyone have any insight/thoughts on this? It is an important factor to me in rush. Thanks!!

Both houses are going to be incredible! They are scheduled to be finished in the summer of 2020 before school starts with girls moving back in in August 2020. In the meantime, Kappa is renting the Theta house and KD will be located in the old SAE house. Kappa members will be living in the Theta house for the 2019-2020 school year. I don't know if the SAE house is even livable, but at least the KD members will have a place to gather and eat their meals for the time being. Remember, it's not the house that makes the sorority, it's the girls who belong to it!

The KD house is going to be the most expensive sorority house renovation to ever be done. You can read about it in the Mississippi news. Kappa is also going to be beautiful. Both houses will be done before you would ever consider moving into the house because both houses you live in as an upperclass men. As for next year, kappa is in theta and KD is in the SAE house. Both will be great. It’s unique for both of them to do this as it’s rare to be in a fraternity house and another sorority house. But it should be good for the girls. I’m sure during rush they will both show you plans for their future homes.
Also one more difference between the two: kappa is just renovating their house. KD completely tore down their house and is getting a new one because of flooding and the roof falling in.

Actually kappas house is almost completely torn down too? there is only a small corner left .. not enough to just be called a renovation

Well I guess it’s not unusual for a PNM to study the blueprints of sorority future remodel/rebuilds? However KD and KKG are just two of the sororities on campus. It’s way too early for a PNM to be worrying about the physical houses, you have no guarantee of ending up in either of these. You have to go through recruitment first and be selected by the sorority that wants you.

This PNM seems to have the ‘attitude’’ of a typical over zealous Mississippi Mommie. What PNM is insane enough to think they are going to get to choose their house based on the blueprints of the future renovation? Only the Mommies act this crazy.

I think it’s only technically a renovation because they are leaving the newer wing. The entire original house is being rebuilt. Semantics lol

I personally think it's disgusting and disrespectful that Kappa is taking over the Theta house while they 'renovate' their house. KKG did not one thing to support Theta while on campus or while they were really suffering in rush, but will happily take advantage of their absence to advance their own chapter. Who could move into the Theta house and actually feel good about it. Despicable.

^^^ And I SECOND and THIRD this comment. How do you know how much Kappa “supported” Theta? I do know that they did financially support Theta’s philanthropy efforts, as did most Greek chapters.
In reality, they ARE supporting Theta by paying rent on an otherwise-empty huge house. This will help Theta put away cash to support the chapter when they choose to return. And Theta did not have to rent to KKG.
It’s IGNORANT comments like yours that tear Greek life apart. Just STFU if you have nothing helpful to add....

Theta will NEVER return to OM. Their national knows what a toxic place this is, not to mention Panhellenic would turn them down in an extension vote just for spite.

it would just be nice to have a permanent place to call “home” i guess was my main point. I also just really want to live in the house! such a good point though, thanks! and thank you for the timeline, i haven’t seen one anywhere else. and i wasn’t trying to talk bad about KDs house, obviously it will look great! I just found it sketchy how they made even newer plans and it looked just like kappas after they changed it. oh well either way!
