Dear older alumnae and mammas: We understand that winning beauty pageants back in your day was the be-all and end-all of accomplishment for young women. But perceptions about them, as well as opportunities for women to do great things, have changed a great deal since you were young. The majority of people nowadays don't really think that highly of beauty pageants anymore, if they think about them at all. They are even a bit of a joke these days to some. If pageants are what a girl likes to do for a pass time then great, there's something for everybody, but those crowns don't look as shiny to people anymore as you seem to think they do and bragging about them won't help your house recruit better.

just because pageants may not be for you does not give you or anyone else the right to demean their value to others and if someone has a genuine interest in pageants being apart of their sorority experience they have the right to be well informed about which chapters are interested in that. We are here to support women no matter what their interests are not only the ones that you deem "appropriate" or less of an accomplishment so take that negativity elsewhere.

Could not agree more. Seriously, pageant girls are an embarrassment. I would rather have a house full of sisters with real accomplishments!
