differences

I'm very interested in Phi Mu Kappa and Pi Phi and I know that they're all awesome sororities but I was just wondering what were the differences between the three?

All three of these are great sororities. In addition, AOPi should be added to your interest list if you are an OOS student as they are in the same bracket as far as recruitment, retention rates and GPA scores.

Here's a breakdown based on numbers:

Kappa ended Fall semester with 439 members and ended Spring semester with 387 members. That's a decrease of 52 members, which is the highest decrease (12%) of any sorority in the same time frame. Kappa has the highest GPA (3.24) of the four middle tier OOS sororities at the end of Spring semester.

Phi Mu ended Fall semester with 426 members and ended Spring semester with 417 members. That's a decrease of 9 members (.02%). Phi Mu has a GPA of 3.225.

Pi Phi ended Fall semester with 445 members and ended Spring semester with 423 members. That's a decrease of 23 members (.05%). Pi Phi has a GPA of 3.20.

AOPi ended Fall semester with 424 members and ended Spring semester with 408 members. That's a decrease of 16 members (.03%). AOPi has a GPA of 3.21.

The decrease in membership could be a result of Seniors meeting requirements for graduation.

You really need to wait until you get on campus and check out the different sororities. On this site all you are going to get is the usual stereotypes and it's impossible to stereotype any group that are as large as the Ole Miss sororities have become.

That's truly the best advice. I know girls who thought House A, B or C was "it" yet when they went through rush they discovered they weren't what they thought and they ended up pledging a house they never considered.

To future PNM's - the best advice truly is TO KEEP AN OPEN MIND!

if I had Kappa and Phi Mu on pref idk what I would do because they're very different houses but I loved both so much. TBH I would love to be in either of these house, they were my fav going through rush this year because you still have a chance at a bid even if you're not a triple legacy MS girl like some other houses

KKG-> Hot, fun, wild. Kappas hang out with other Kappas and that's usually it. I saw them doing a lot of philanthropy stuff this year. They also got their gpa higher I saw. I would say they appeal more to the wild rich OOS southern girls. A kappa placed top 10 in Miss MS this year. Lots of these girls have known each other forever, heavy connections but not alot of MS girls

Phi Mu-> sweet, gorgeous, fun. Phi Mu's also usually only hang out with other Phi Mu's. I know in the past they've had a lot of really pretty pageant girls. Phi Mu is a very well rounded sorority and has a great reputation through out the south. One of my favorite houses going through rush and some of my best friends are Phi Mu's. Lots of sweet southern girls, also very heavy in connections, it would be very hard to get a bid with out being a close legacy or knowing a few actives. More MS girls than Kappa I think

I think of KKG and Phi Mu more like "sister" sororities because they aren't really competing for girls since hey take different types but they're both still top middle with OOS girls. I say these 2 compete mostly with DG for girls since DG is kind of a mix of wild sweet OOS pnm
