buyer's guide?

by: PNM

can we get a buyer's guide?

surprised something like this hasn't been made

no rankings, no pros/cons, just a hey if you are like this, then you'd be a perfect fit here. I can fill out a few, but i am lost on others.

APhi - out of state, pretty, doesn't try to be southern
TriDelt - rich, southern, not just limited to jackson/memphis, mostly urban cities in the south
ChiO- not big in partying, classy, takes school seriously
Aoii - quite, in the background, but really chill, down to earth once you know them
Theta - unique, despite being so different, they all get along and have one of the stronger sisterhoods\n\n\n\n\nFeel free to change mines or add on the others.
Please nothing too specific "DG- Cheerleaders" like how many actual college cheerleaders are there?
Looking for something general, but also something that sets a sorority apart from the others.

This could be helpful but I have some differences.

Are there out-of-region girls in Chi O and Tri Delt? Yes, I know of a few. Is it likely? Not so much. But when out-of-state (especially out-of-region) hear this, they might likely write them off.

Likewise there are Miss. girls in the typically out-of-state (especially those with more out-of-region members) houses but if, as a Miss. girl, I heard that all the time, then I might not pay attention to them although they might be a good fit.

I think the better description would be based more on grades, actives and personalities, not where members come from or that they are "money" houses. I like all the descriptions written by the OP that leave out where members are from and financial status type stuff - that would help me have an open mind regardless of where I'm from because there are Miss. girls in every house and there are OOS girls in every house too.

chio is very heavy alumni based. more than any other sorority. they don't care if you are from the moon, if your mom was a chio here, you are auto in.

i think region is really important. if you are from the northeast you don't want ot be a kd, they are all miss/memphis and usually rural areas, you wouldn't fit in.

also if you dont have money you'd want to avoid tri delt. all they talk about is money

yes region is important, very important. and to a lesser degree money is important

@Yes and...

I get what you're saying about out of state, out of region, etc. But I still think it would be helpful to have that information. Yes, houses have girls from all over, but it's not incorrect that certain houses are more Mississippi centered. That's not a negative or a positive, it's just the way it is. And of course all houses have girls from Mississippi. That's Ole Miss. So maybe instead the statement needs a bit more context. Ex. Majority of membership is from Mississippi due to history, in-state connections, and active alumni base. Or some such thing? \n\n\n\n\n

I'm pretty sure all of our houses are at least (or very close to) 50% out-of-state. Even the "mostly in state" houses like XO DDD and KD. And if not the whole chapter then at least the most recent PCs.

Some other houses, like APhi, might be well over 50%, but it says something that all of them are around 50%. It shows that every single house takes a decent amount of out of state girls.

AOPI: I think this house is good for the girls who like to be under the radar. Pretty, kind, and cute girl next door vibes. You know they exist, but I feel don't really come across them often or see individual girls doing much (not in a bad way.) But that's just me!
ADPI: Well rounded, it seems they have a lot of different kinds of girls so they're diverse. Quirky girls, but not in a weird way, just Doing their thing. It's an easy house to feel comfortable in!
APhi: Lots of northern girls, so if you're from the north you'll probably like them. Good for girls who like to be the center of attention (not in a bad way) or life of the party. Socially involved. Some people think that they're too concerned with what other houses think of them, but it seems to me like it's more carefree girls.
Theta: Not your typical sorority girl, so if you're not into the super stereotypical sorority this is for you!!! Some of the nicest girls I've ever met. They're genuine people. I feel like if you're pretty much only focused on sisterhood this house is for you

Tri Delt- some of the sweetest girls I've met, very strong history at ole miss
Phi Mu- girls in this house are proud of their sorority and are happy to be there, some pagent girls and some laid back girls, a mix like this makes for good diversity. I like that they are a southern sorority but have a lot of out of state girls, so welcoming
Kappa- prob the most fun house, these girls always look like they're having a good time, also strong philanthropy and sisterhood, a lot of hot southern girls
Kappa Delt- Also a lot of hot southern girls, a lot of very rich girls too, great sisterhood as most of these girls grew up together which I think is nice, hang out with top tier frats
DG- if you're competitive this house is for you, they have very pretty girls who like to win at things like Theta Encore, these girls are very cute and sweet, they have a strong connection with KA
Chi O- hands down nicest girls at Ole Miss, they have what I would consider the strongest sisterhood, I've only met a few Chi O's but I have loved every single one

This is a great thread - no bashing, just describing the type of girls each house typically gets.

And to the OP I'd say this - don't let "types" stop you from giving each house a chance. Every house has girls who don't fit their typical mold and who do fit in great, so keep an open mind.
