grades
by: pnmI'm keeping an open mind while going thru rush however grades are very important to me and I was wondering how competitive is it to get into the sororities with the highest grades. I'm looking for a good combination of grades, sisterhood and campus involvement. I want the social aspects, but I'm not so much into the party scene if you know what I mean.

If you have good grades, it's definitely going to look good to those houses, but it's going to take a lot more than good grades to get in. Grades actually seem to fit the usual "ranking" on here - therefore, you'll have to have the connections, etc. necessary to get into the "top" houses.
DG used to be top 2 along with Chi O and then with KD and DDD following right behind until fall 2015. Since then, DG has fallen below KD and DDD and now below Kappa and Phi Mu as well. Chi O, KD, and DDD have been the top 3 for a while now with either KD or Chi O being #1. The general ranking on this website has Chi O, KD, and DDD being top, followed by DG, Kappa, and Phi Mu. This is pretty much exactly how the grade ranks are. This being said, to get into a top 3 house in grades, you'll have to meet the same requirements as getting into a top house in rankings. You'll need connections most importantly, and you'll also need to be involved and a pretty well rounded, put-together girl with a good personality and decent looks. If you don't have any connections but have the other things, you'll probably get into DG Phi Mu or Kappa just fine.

And, there are 4.0's-every-semester girls and well-below-a-3.0-every-semester girls in every single sorority. So, even if you aren't in a house particularly known for their grades, there will be girls in your sorority that are in the library 7/7 days of the week and rarely, if ever, go to the square or the bars, even though there are also girls that haven't stepped foot in the library ever. Except for the library on the square, of course.
So, even though this is a great aspect of houses to think about when going through rush, don't let it dissuade you from houses you actually feel at home in or make you like houses you don't feel any connection with.
