rushing out of state
by: Olemiss825Hi! I'm going to be a freshman in the fall and I'm from the mid west. I was wondering which sororities are more open to out of state girls?? I'm really scared because all I read is that only a few houses take girls from my area and I really want to be able to find a house that I like

Kappa, Aoii, Pi Phi, Aphi, Adpi, and Theta take a lot of OOS. Don't be discouraged if you're oos, you'll end up where you need to be. Ps. the "top" houses here are only top to MS/Memphis legacies. I'm from MS and I don't see what makes them better than other sororities. I personally love having sisters from all over the country!. OOS girls, don't let anyone tell you that you'll end up in a bad sorority because of where you're from. None of the houses are bad and your house will be top to you and you'll realize that's all that matters once you join. Good luck!!!

Honest truth for OOS girls-
Unless you have a strong connection your chances of a top 3 sorority is about 5%. With the Variable Quota we now have for rush the top 3 houses can take maybe 100 girls apiece. Obviously give every house a chance, but the odds for top 3 OOS without connections are slim.
There are 8 other sororities, many with lots of OOS members, waiting for you to love.
Ole Miss has the best Greek program in the country. All of our houses are great. So go into Rush with an open, realistic mind and it will all work out.

Solid advice above. Most of all, go in with an open mind, play full out (meaning take every invitation you get, including for pref, and no matter what, do not suicide. Accept a bid if you get one even if you have doubts) and don't listen to tent talk.
Have fun and you will have a far better rush. There is a place here if you are open!
