hoco help me?

I'm from south part of the state, high GPA and class rank, extracurriculars, and "not totally heinous" ;)
However I'm AA and I've heard it may hurt my chances with Rush, is that true? I'm very light skinned if that matters and my BF is white.
Also I have friends in houses there and they seem to really want me but I am pretty sure I don't want their houses. I identify more with another house that has AA members in leadership roles. I'm so worried they'll be upset if they knew.
Yes I know it's mutually selective and all, I'm just thinking aloud here.
