girls who sell things on facebook/insta

by: Hmmmm

I've seen a lot of girls who are coming up next year selling products online... Such as Mary Kay, younique, lipsense, wraps or teas, etc. does this weird you out about a PNM if they're selling products on Facebook or insta? Do you think these things will affect them in rush at all?

You girls are ridiculously snobby. I am in a top sorority at Ole Miss. I sell Lipsense. My parents pay my bills. I am selling $600+ every month fo have my own money. You need to stop generalizing. We are a liberal university I thought. Don't judge others. You guys sound incredibly one sided and have tunnel vision.

Nobody cares if you're in a top tier house and do it. That won't change anyone's opinion on it. Doesn't get validate it just because you're top tier!!!

I wonder if I'd be embarrassed by the job your parents have. If your dad or mom is a sales person, omg! We can't take you in our house. Sales persons are a blight on society. I mean, their product is overinflated in prices. It makes your family look desperately poor. Ewwww!

Wow. Ignorant and judgemental. I bet people feel super welcome in your house during rush.

I'm still in HS and there's a girl who has DM'd me and everyone I know to sell lipstick. Some girls did it but I think all of that stuff is tacky. I hope Chi O knows she's turned off a ton of girls by pushing this on PNM. I saw her in person at IL dancing and that's all I'll say about that.

Do you all hear yourselves? I'm turning you into the William Winter institute for income reconciliation. If someone sells products, it's ok. You all need counseling at Ole Miss. we are a liberal institute and are not snobby.

This last post was written satirically. You ole miss people are wrapped up in your own world bubble you can't realize how ridiculous you sound. Let anyone make their own money how they see fit. If you don't like on line sales simply unfollow them. I hate to tell you this, it's the new way to do things. Now, continue in with your snobbishness and pseudo- liberalism. You're so much cooler than all of us. 😉

It is the new way of doing things which is why network marketing is a fast-growing industry.

As for people's perceptions of this type of work, consider that the No. 1 income earner in the world or Mary Kay is a woman with an MBA from HARVARD. Yep, an MBA from one of the toughest graduate business schools there is. Not too shabby!

I personally think some of the products are tacky. But I won't lie, I know somebody who is selling r&f and making a LOT of money. She has fun with the sales on social media, which is probably why she's doing so well, she doesnt take it so seriously. She is doing it for extra spending money and because of sports she could never have an after school job. I was really surprised. I thought r&f was for old people trying to look 20. But I guess I was wrong.

The entire premise of "multi-level marketing" is not the product and the so-called benefits of the product, but the scam of trying to sign others on to selling the crap and making them cover large up-front fees. You sign you friends up to sell it under you, they pledge $500-$1000 to cover "start-up" fees, and the companies make money from these start up fees. Much like a cult, they rely on new followers, not people who are actually buying the products. If you want to have your Stella & Dot party, fine, but don't expect me to pay $75 for a pair of earrings made in China, when I can buy a nicer pair at Saks. At least at Saks I'm not have someone try to brainwash me into selling the same product to my friends.

If you are a PNM and you are pushing this stuff, consider yourself already cut because we will presume you are dumb and can't manage to spot a pyramid scheme and we don't have time nor do we want to come to your product "party".

Can we stop this pyramid sales junk? I've been home a few days and have heard of nine PNM who have been DM'd by actives at OM about "joining her team" to sell lipstick. WTH? These are nine high school girls I know personally. Who knows how many others I don't know. I love our greek community and want it to be the best, so all houses need to address the issue of our actives pushing multilevel marketing schemes on PNM. According to an article on campus, the girl at the top of the pyramid who started the DM to PNM method is a Chi O. She tells anybody who signs up under how to do it. When they sign up new victims, she gets a large percentage of their earnings, along with her own. These clueless PNMs agree to do it & pretend to be excited. They are afraid to say no in fear that it will hurt them during rush. They think the active is their new best friend & will help them during rush. To PNM (Potential New Members): Any random person who contacts you & tells you how pretty you are & how great you'd be selling, only wants to profit off of you. Normal college girls don't message strangers to tell them they're pretty unless they want something. It's weird. She might pretend that you're her new favorite person, but you are one of the tons of new fb friends she adds in hope of MAKING MONEY OFF OF YOU. @amwayblows True, but unfortunate that they'll be cut for something an active persuaded them to do. Case & point why MLM is tacky in sororities. Truth.

I wish she'd leave us alone & stop sending DM. Moms were talking about her at grad night saying how tacky it is for her going through people's friends list trying to recruit her "team". Chi O must not care, but they should. We will recognize the annoying multi level marketing girl during rush and think automatically fake since she obviously is working an agenda.

I think the whole pyramid scheme thing is tacky in general. There is a very very fine line. I don't care if you promote on a separate account or in a group on Facebook. It is tacky to post pictures on your real insta with captions like "Ask me how I make $500+ dollars a week!". Now this XO girl who is DMing PNMs, that's just weird. I am not generally a judgy person, but she's taking advantage of younger girls, pretending to be their friend. I understand where they wouldn't want to say no because they think it will hurt them in rush. PMNs: Don't fall for that. Stay away. Who cares if it gets you cut from XO?
