It's honestly rare... I mean you have to have bad grades, get a "no rec" from an alumni, or have a terrible reputation,
The top houses have to cut 1/2 the girls after the first day but the bottom retaining houses only have to cut 1/4... so they get to keep more throughout the week and as you get to know them you will have girls who really like you and will fight to have you stay.

If this makes you feel better or gives you reassurance - I came from the middle of nowhere, knew no one at ole miss, didn't know anything about rush or sororities, went to public school, and my parents aren't super rich and I still had two houses left with one being higher up on the tiers, granted my reputation was clean (not that anyone probably knew that since no connections) and I had good grades. Be yourself and everything will fall into place. You might get cut from some based on what I described but trust me, you don't want houses that won't give the real you a shot.

Last year the top houses had to cut 1000 out of almost 1600 (3/4) after the first day. The middle houses cut 800, the lower only had to cut 1/4.
Getting completely cut is rare.
