how hard is it to get noticed in ddd or kd
by: Interested
I know everyone says not to do this... but, I really have been watching and following DDD and KD. I love them both!!
How hard is it to get noticed from them?
How about getting invited to visit for spring parties?
They both have multiple members following me and commenting on my IG and FB, what does that really mean?
I've been told by members in both sororities that they like me and "can't wait to see me running to their house"!!
What does this really mean am I getting set up?

First don't do this, pick a group especially those two. You're likely to get hurt with them, hard to get a bid from either one. Especially KD, they are much more exclusive and you seriously need connections to break ground there. DDD can be hard too but much easier to get noticed there. If you know actives, you may get invited to a spring party weekend but don't think that you're a shoe in. Just means they like to party and most likely they think you do too.
If you're a PNM you'll get followed and liked by many actives in all the chapters. I honestly think it's fake as hell, but it gets some girls both PNMs and actives all super excited.
Buyer Beware.
#2by: Truth
This is what they do. It's a strategy. They want to be known as the most desired during recruitment and to drop lots of PNM's to make themselves look better. So they tell lots of PNM's that they really want them and lead them to believe they are special. It's like they SEDUCE as many as they can into wanting them. Then they can say how many girls they 'had to cut'. Truth is it just means that they haven't blacklisted you and don't think you are too bad. It could work out for you, but statistically they are using you and others to pad their release numbers. Don't go through recruitment on social media. Go through real recruitment.

@Truth.... You couldn't have said it better!! I totally was 'seduced' by Tridelt.
I've grown up with so many of these girls, gone to camp with them and with their friends, our parents are friends and was led to believe that they wanted to give me a bid but, nope then dropped by them last year. I was heart broken mostly because I felt used and mislead. Don't get me wrong, I ended up pledging the best sorority for me. It all worked out in the end, but in the middle, I was so USED by Tridelt. I now know they treated me that way so they could look more desirable to my roommate, floor mates, and other friends.
Then they'll cry and tell you how gut wrenching it was to make such deep cuts....
Be aware, very aware of the mean games they play.

I came to Ole Miss from Out of State and had absolutely no intention of going through Rush, however after I got here I thought I would give it a go. I had to scramble for letters, of course I didn't attend any Spring Parties and didn't waste my time or money on spending thousands of dollars on clothes just for rush. I didn't get a warm and fuzzy feeling from DDD (although their house is beautiful) so I wasn't disappointed when they quickly cut me. However I did like KD and they were extremely nice to me even though I knew I wasn't going to make it past the first cut. I did end up accepting a bid from a 'middle' tier and I am very happy. My Sorority is very diverse, which is just right for me. I came in with a good resume, good grades, leader in high school, high ACT, volunteer service, etc, I feel pretty sure my resume would stand up against any girl in any sorority. I think the key to DDD and KD are connections (Ole Miss connections), and meeting as many of them as possible (through Spring parties and once you get on campus). However like several other posters have said: DO NOT put your hopes on these two sororities. Keep an open mind! If you are truly interested in Greek Life you will find a place you can be happy and enjoy a strong sisterhood.
#6by: don't do it
Falling in love with a sorority from afar is like falling in love with a guy after seeing pictures. Does. Not. Work.
I've known girls so absorbed with the "big three" that they overlooked other great houses...then they got cut from the "big three" and were left trying to find a fit in another house...which was made worse when those houses cut them because their attitude ("I have to be in House A or B only") came through loud and clear.
Recruitment is a great test of your future: how open-minded you are and how sincerely interested you are in finding a home, not a reputation or label. You'd be surprised how many girls find their home in a house they never, ever thought they'd consider. Hope that will be you.
#8by: ddd and kd
While it really may seem that ddd and kd lead girls on just using them to get to other girls, that is not the case!! If you have been through rush on the other side you know that there are TONS of girls that a sorority wants but they can't have them all. Usually, the sophomore pledge class (current freshman) do the most rushing and when you think about it, all of them have at least one girl (usually multiple) that they REALLY want in their sorority. But when a sorority can only take a little over 100 girls, they don't all get in! Especially like this past year the pledge classes for xo, ddd, and kd were cut down by around 50! So if every girl in the sophomore pledge class had just 1 girl they wanted to get in, not even all of them could get a bid. It comes down to numbers, and though so many tri delts, for example, might want suzie to be a ddd, the numbers don't always work out and there isn't always room. If anything these sororities want to put their full energy into the girls they actually want - they wouldn't want to lead other girls on. It's a waste of time.
also - often girls think that their top girl(s) are shoe ins and have a bid when they don't! No one except rush team knows whose in or who isn't until the bid list is read to the chapter. and rush team doesn't even know until they get the bid list! Actives often make the mistake of telling girls they have a bid when they in fact don't and then both the active and PNM are hurt in the end.

I'm at the first orientation and the TriDelta's told me they're taking me and my roommate out. They also invited some of my friends to go. I went to camp with some of the actives so they say it's cool if we get together. I'm scared that I'm getting set up and they are actually using me to get to my roommate and a couple of my other friends. I think I'm THE connection for some of the PNMs and I'm a PNM too :(

This is 100% true. Had 3 friends who were told that exact thing. KD is a great house. They shouldn't string girls along, but they do. The top 3 houses can only take about 100 girls per house. Your best bet is to remember those odds, meet girls in each house and maybe pick a fave house in each tier. All our houses are great, if you're open-minded you'll be fine.
