by: noneSo do the girls that go to private school get in the better sororities because that is how it appears.

There is at least one sorority where a member stated on this site that they are only interested in Nashville private school girls and ridiculed girls from other areas. To me that does not make them better, that makes them childish. Most of the sororities have a good mix of public and private schools and will give their members a diverse college experience. Remember, you will be in college - not high school.

Hey, OP, that was me who said that. We were just talking about Nashville, specifically, which of course is an out of state city so honestly don't pay too much attention to that, or anything on this site, really. FYI- at Ole Miss there are TONS of public/private school girls in every single sorority from everywhere! Overall, that really doesn't matter much at all.

Personally I don't think it matters if one sorority wants to be made up of Memphis and Nashville private school girls, and another sorority wants to be Jackson Mississippi girls. There are plenty of sororities that offer opportunities for out of state girls or girls from other schools in Mississippi. The insane thing is if any sorority is considered 'better' because the girls all come from a few select high schools. I can only speak for myself but I wanted a more diverse group and thankfully I found my perfect sorority home. I have sisters from all over the country, there's not a single high school clique.

I'm not so sure I agree with that. I think if you're not from the right zip code that some sororities won't bother. Not completely from the snobbery standpoint, but because their lists are basically finished in the springtime and so heavily based on the alumni groups in the Jackson and Memphis areas. The way you have this written makes it sound like it truly doesn't matter at all, which isn't the case. My point? Girls from Jackson Academy are going to have an easier time than Tishomingo County High School simply because of the numbers and networks - at certain houses.\n\n\n\n\n
