fighting mom about spring parties

Sorry accidentally hit button..
Anyway, I'm from Midwest, don't know anybody and have read that spring parties are important. It's my only chance to connect with sorority members..but my mom doesn't want me to go.

Help!! How can I convince her? She thinks I'll be fine with good rec letters but I'm worried!

Spring parties are not the only chance to connect. It's very important to make connections with as many actives as possible when you come to school in the weeks before recruitment - remember that you are then being watched closely; so be sweet to everyone, don't offer opinions on individual sororities, watch your drinking and your interaction with guys, dress and look put-together in public every day. You won't get cut because you didn't attend spring parties. Spring parties can hurt girls too - drinking too much, flirting or even just talking with guys who may be other girls' boyfriends or crush or ex, talking about sororities when comments can be misconstrued - these are things that can get you in trouble. Get your recs for all the houses (in-house connections to alums are best.) Use your social media - follow back people who follow you and like their pics often, and make sure yours is clean from the 3 B's (boys, bikinis, booze.)

If a current member is inviting you then you need to come. My mom came and stayed in a hotel when I stayed with a friend.
