I am thinking about attending Ole Miss next year. I am from the midwest. I do not know anybody at Ole Miss and am not a legacy. I know I will be able to get some recs from family friends. Will I have trouble getting bid?

Being from out of state is not going to keep you from getting a bid. Several of the best sororities are made up primarily of out of state students. Definitely be prepared for recruitment. Get your recommendation letters for every Sorority and go through rush with an open mind. Your GPA will be important and you will want your resume to show you have some leadership and social skills.

One other thing you should be prepared for is how tough recruitment is here. I've met many girls from OOS (mostly out of the South) and they were stunned at how competitive it was. Like crying on the phones to their families and wanting to drop out of recruitment.

And with variable quota, it got a lot worse this past year. Not sure how you can prepare for this since recruitment at SEC schools is much tougher than at many other places, but just know that it's tough and you will do much better. Good luck!
