Just from my personal observations it seems the lower on the tier ranking the sorority is the greater the number of out of state students. I certainly don't know every girl in every sorority but that is how it seems to me.

generally, OOS southern girls go DG Phi Mu & kappa while OOS from elsewhere usually go aopi theta adpi
