honest gpa
by: pnmHow much does GPA truly matter..I know people always say "3.0 or above you'll be fine" but will having below a 3.0 absolutely kill your chances or if you get to meet active memebers before rush will you have a chance? Would they take a awkward 4.0 girl over a 2.8 sociable girl ? Thanks!

you can to the 3.0 by kicking ass this last semester! Being completely honest- a 2.8 GPA is gonna get a PNM dropped from a lot of houses mainly bc our national standards set the bar and our houses are required to follow these guidelines. Of course there are exceptions- but FEW and lots of strings must be pulled to even allow these few. Probably even less now with the variable quota system forcing sororities to make the grade risk cuts sooner. Some houses even need ithat high school GPA's to be higher- like 3.2 or 3.3. Most sororities know that getting a 3.0 in high school isn't that difficult. And if a PNM can't do that, the chances of them maintaining their grades in college will be even tougher. Good luck!

I knew a girl going in with a 2.6... she got cut by all but her legacy house and two others after day 1... it just sucked for her and she just didn't have many choices at all. She ended up with one of the newer chapters and is happy with it, but she will never know what she could have had

Kappas require at least a 3.2. It should tell you on each houses website what they will take as a minimum. You can be a bright shining star all you want, it just doesnt matter when it comes to GPA, that is an easy first round cut for most houses when they are looking at over a 1000 girls coming through.
