why did kappa cut so many legacies and courtesies
by: ????My aunt was the recruitment chairmen and another exec position and then the vice president of the Delta Rho chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma at Ole Miss and I was cut from Kappa after sisterhood. This doesn't make sense to me considering her standing within the sorority and the fact she wrote my letter. Other girls who had no connection with the kappa were given a bid instead of me I'm just really confused and still upset. did this sort of thing happen to anyone else?

Hate to break it to you, but it was probably your attitude. With the new quota system, chapters couldn't afford to just take a whole bunch of "legacies" (even if Aunt is considered a legacy, because for some sororities it isn't). The sisters probably saw that you felt entitled to a bid, and that's a huge no. Chapters want girls who are confident, enthusiastic about joining their sisterhood, and connect with the sisters. They don't want any member who thinks they'll just get a bid because mommy or whomever will get it for them!

1. The chapter had a HUGE number of legacies going through and as the niece of a KKG, you weren't considered a legacy.
2. Due to variable quota and RFM, the chapter had to make large releases earlier then later in the week.
3. Try not to take it personally. I hope you found a home!

It's a showing of politeness towards others? Like because you're a legacy, they'll invite you back for one extra round out of respect for that initiated sister, but it's no guarantee that you get a bid, but that person will likely get a call if the legacy is released.
