There is no difference as far as I'm concerned.
Hazing is hazing! Nobody should be forced into doing something they don't want to do!
At lease derby days is in the spring after everybody has already be initiated and girls have more options.
My freshman year theta encore was mandatory if you wanted to be initiated, derby days was voluntary for points.

Let the pledges decide if they want to participate or not. Don't haze them into doing something they don't want to do, or don't have the time to do.
It doesn't matter how much fun, or bonding it may be,
TBH it really doesn't help with the bonding. At least not for me, and my grades suffered because of the time spent

I have loved theta encore practice! It is so much fun getting to really know all my new sisters and my group has grown so close... I still hVe my 3.8 GPA and maintain my two other groups I belong too. If you organize your time and prioritize it's really no big deal... I can't wait to show off at Theta encore and bring pride to my house! Who on earth would consider bonding with your sisters hazing? That's just silly!

Tell me theta. How many sorority philanthropies do you girls support? I've never seen you at any of my sorority fund raising events.

I thought so too, last year, but I actually bonded with other new members in my sorority and had a lot of fun (though it was hard work). If they had made it voluntary, I wouldn't have participated, and would have missed out on a great experience all around. Not hazing at all!
