If you dropped from rush and want to rush next year as a sophomore what are your chances?

I dropped my freshman year and rerushed my sophomore year. I get into a top house. I'm probably the one exception, but proof that it is possible.

thus the term "basically." Unless you make a huge number of really close friends in one house that will pull for you or become so involved and well known that everyone knows who you are and want you, sophomore re-recruitment will not go well for you. Many houses have a "once cut always cut" policy, so they won't even consider you.

You need to be friends with actives in the house(s) you are interested in, excellent grades, and high-value campus involvement. If you make all of these happen you will have a chance.

I know a girl who was dropped from every house except one. SHe chose to withdraw from recruitment. She hung out with tons of chi o's all year and rerushed the next year. She was still cut from the next year and decided once again to withdraw.

This year she is a junior. She lives with chi o's, hangs out with them, and while she is not in their sorority, has still made lifelong friends with them.

Not being in a sorority does not mean you can't still be friends with them. College is what you make of it.

Yes, that is the 'once dropped always dropped' rule that some chapters have. It's not a national rule but a chapter rule that their alums make them have, so even if they wanted her as a sister their alums wouldn't let them.
