this week!
by: Just A MomAs a mother of a girl from out of state. I want to say thank you all for your hard work this week. My daughter has called me everyday. Although her second round of cuts was upsetting to her, she still had a house that she actually loved and are in hopes of getting today. But I do understand how stressful this can be as she has said there were ALOT of girls extremely upset , some are even transferring schools. I am not going to pretend to understand because that seems a bit extreme. After reading through the post on here, it looks like this was a hard rush for everyone this. Good luck today ladies.

Girls always transfer from ole miss right after rush. Happens every year. Been going on a long long time. You will see the move outs today and all week long in the dorms and parking lots. Girls will be left without roommates. All because girls came here for a certain sorority or nothing. Some will not go to any college, others will go to another lesser school nearer home, some will transfer to another college with the chapter they want at ole miss so they can join that house and transfer back to ole miss and affiliate. So it's not just this year, it's every year.

I thought the whole reason Ole Miss does delayed recruitment is to make it harder to just withdraw if you get released or don't get the house you want, when it comes to getting a tuition refund, etc. Don't most girls who decide to leave just stick it out and transfer in the spring?

What is the point of withdrawing because you don't get the house you want? I mean what is the benefit of getting that house that will be so life changing? It's not pride because I can't think of anything more humiliating than dropping out of school because of a sorority. The connections can be found anywhere... just wondering what is the mentality? I also think that is total insanity

Before deferred recruitment, Ole Miss used to be known as "U-Haul" University, because daddy would be up there after bid day to move out. Belonging to the "right" sorority has been rammed down these girls' throats since they were 2 years old. It's a generational thing at Ole Miss.

I've known plenty of girls who were released from recruitment and/or dropped. None of them ever left Ole Miss.
This year is sorta weird because proportionately more girls are finding themselves with nothing left but bottom houses. That may effect things this year.
Top girls have friends in top houses. They know they belong in those top houses (I'm counting DG/phi mu/kappa in the top as well). Circumstances outside of their control caused more than usual to be released this year. It's hard, I get it. They feel they are being rejected by their friends and at only 18, they have a hard time with the rejection. These girls might actually transfer this year. Idk.
When girls don't have friends in any of the top houses, those girls are less likely to be unhappy with bids to the lower houses. Those are the girls who will blossom in the lower houses.
