dropped
by: PNMSo I only had one house left and talked to SO many people about what I should do. I ended up withdrawing from rush because I was under the impression I might still have a chance to join a house via COB or spring rush or rushing again as a sophomore. Is that true or is it true that "once cut always cut"? I just really didn't want to join a sorority just to join one and to spend all of that money on a house I don't feel like I belong at. I like many other houses and could see myself there and I am wondering if I get good grades and stay involved around campus if I have a chance of joining a sorority another time?

Generally what they said above is true, sophomore re-rush will not go better for you unless something dramatically changes with you such as you become really close friends with a lot of girls in one house, become super involved and well-known or do something remarkable that makes people want you.
Yes, many of our houses have a one and done policy, but if you couldn't see yourself in the one house you had left then maybe you weren't really meant to be Greek. You can try signing up for COB after recruitment is over, but if there are houses with openings they are probably going to be the houses you weren't feeling.

Honestly, you passed up your best chance of joining a sorority at Ole Miss when you withdrew. I'm sorry you didn't think you'd find best friends in a pledge class of 150-200 amazing beautiful and accomplished girls. I'm sorry you think you're too good to wear some of the letters on campus, because that's what you meant by "feeling like you didn't belong" there, right??
Here's the deal with COB. The houses that tend to participate are the same ones yOU think you're too good for.
Regarding sophomore rush, it's difficult to go through again. Really difficult. You're going to need a 3.75+ GPA , a group of really good friends in several houses to pull for you, and the maturity to realize you'd be lucky to get a bid to any house. Not all houses have the "once cut, always cut" rule, but many do.

only ADPi, Alpha Phi, and Theta will COB or spring rush. Everyone else is too big already. So if you dropped those houses then withdrew when you only had one of those left you shouldn't expect to get a bid anywhere else. You met maybe 10 girls in the entire sorority. It's a shame you couldn't see past that and know you would find your place, if not with current member then with the close to 200 girls in your pledge class.

I think rushing as a sophomore changes the girls' view of some sororities more than any change in the sororities' view of that girl.
I think they realize they want to be Greek so bad that they actually keep an open mind the second time around.
