any word on how things are going?

by: New subject

With just moments left until cuts/invites, does anyone have any insight to those who have two left? Everything I have read, says don't suicide but are any girls still planning to? Does it REALLY ruin my chances of getting that house I feel good about?
Thanks in advance!

Do not suicide if you like the other sorority. If you do not like the other one then do suicide.

Mixed info on this one topic. But what I don't understand is why we shouldn't suicide if we know for a fact that we do not belong in the other one. Wouldn't suicide be best so we don't get picked by the one we will not under any circumstances go to?

If you do list both houses on your pref card and both make their quota before your name comes up on the bid list, then you would be added to one of the houses as a Quota Addition because you maximized your options. In the past, many girls have gotten their 1st choice by being a QA so if you suiciide you lose the potential to match to them a second way. This is how suiciding can hurt you.

Suiciding does not help you. Your name is where it is on the bid list. Suicide won't help your chances improve of bid matching to the quota list.

Wrong. If someone is 100% certain that she does not want to be in one of the chapters she prefs, then she should suicide. Don't take a spot away from a PNM that really wants that chapter if you're not going to follow through and join if you get a bid.

If you have one sorority that has a limited quota and one with the higher quota left, chances are very high you'll end up in the higher quota chapter if you maximize your options and put both down and end up being a quota addition. Just be sure that you'll be 100% ok with not being Greek at all, because that is a very real possibility if you suicide.

There won't be any quota additions this year.

Their might be snap bids for the girls who fall through the cracks.

There most definitely will be quota additions this year! If a PNM attends all her pref parties she's invited to and lists all those sororities on her bid card, then she is guaranteed a spot in one of those sororities even if they reach quota before they get to her name. Stop spreading bad information!

There will be Quota Additions. It is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that there will be any snap bids.

If you ABSOLUTELY will not accept a bid from your second choice, only list your top choice. If you do not get your first choice you would still be eligible for COB for those chapters not at campus total after Bid Day. If you list both and get a bid from your second choice and decline the bid, you will NOT be eligible for COB. (And will have to wait an entire year before trying the process again.)

Ok, but it really sucks that it is frowned upon to suicide when someone knows for sure they'll drop if given the one they don't want. That spot could go to someone who would want it. And it also sucks that I am seeing people hate on Theta, but then those same people say not to suicide. Wth?

She wasn't released from recruitment because she suicided. She was released because she didn't list both sororities she had left and wasn't high enough on her desired sorority's bid list to get a bid. By not listing both sororities, she was not eligible for a quota addition. The sorority she wanted didn't want her as much as she wanted them. Stop spreading misinformation.

Your friend was an unfortunate case. YOU DO NOT GET RELEASED FROM RECRUITMENT IF YOU SUICIDE! She was one that fell through the cracks. There are a few every year who play by all the rules and still don't get a chapter.

And you have no business going to pref at a chapter where you would refuse their bid. If you went to pref, then you put the chapter on your card. Do not suicide.

If being in "top tier" means so much to you, then you do not deserve the sisterhood offered by a "lower" tier house. You ain't all THAT, little girl.

It's not a "top tier" that I prefer "little girl". I prefer a lower tier that is right for me. Not a lower tier that is wrong for me.

What a witchy comment. You have no idea which house they like

The may want to suicide against DDD or XO... They may love theta or kappa. Thus is what is wrong with this whole system! They are just asking questions don't bash someone for trying to understand the system. Honey, do what is best for you and if you don't get a bid ...... LIFE WILL GO ON!
