next cuts
by: questionI read that first round cuts were based on grades and reputation, so how will 2nd round cuts be decided? Does the whole chapter vote based on what the girls who talked to us think or how does it work? I just see so many actives all around and wonder how they all know if someone would be a good fit or not. I'm sure this is some secret thing, but I'm curious in general how it works. I'm not a legacy of anything and clueless.

the next round of cuts will not be as severe. From this point on, cuts will be based on internal ranking systems each sorority has in place. Usually you only vote or rank the girls you actually spoke to. I've heard about chapters that actually hold up paddles and vote, but with this many girls, I don't see how that would possible work.
If you still have houses left, your personality and how you interact during rounds will determine if you get invited back.

The largest chapters will have to cut close to 600 more PNMs as well. Panhellenic will only allow them to bring back less than 200 to pref if their quota is 100.

Top houses cut more that 1000 girls each after first round. They have less than 600 girls remaining. Target lists are typically around 600. If you haven't already been cut by a top house, you can be sure they want you. Now is when girls will start dropping top houses (that's how their lists will be narrowed).
The above poster is also correct that Legacy cuts will come next. My chapter has over 100 legacies coming through this year. We cut 20 of those after first round because of grades. After Philanthropy, we will cut at least half of those remaining. Most of those are already on the bottom of our target lists. Chapter legacies (especially those with sitting sisters) will fare a little better.
