If you make it to pref night are you promised a bid or is there a chance you can get dropped after that?

you pref the maximum number of houses and rank both of them on your card, i.e. don't suicide, then yes you will get a bid. It might not be to your first choice but you'll be extremely lucky to get a bid to any house this year!

Theoretically yes you will get a bid. But more and more I'm hearing about girls who are getting their second choices. Happened to both my roommate and a good friend of mine. Both cried on bid day. Write down your first choice, but understand the possibility of getting your second.

After pref, in the year I went through (3 years ago) we were told that it was mandatory for us to sleep in our own rooms so our gamma chi's could find us in case we were released. So the possibility was there that something rare could happen after pref. Like both chapters met quota before they got to your name and neither was willing to take on quota additions.

If the rumors are true, then we won't be seeing any quota additions this year. You theoretically could go bidless or given a snap bid to a sorority you didn't pref.

Please, please check your info before you answer. Correct information can be found in the NPC manual. Chapters don't have the option to not take quota additions. The only reason they wouldn't get them is if they did not follow RFM recommendations throughout recruitment, have not matched to quota or the PNM was not on their bid list. There is an entire section on recruitment, RFM, quota additions, etc.

I go to UGA but we follow the same rules as y'all (minus variable quota thank goodness). I was a gamma chi this past year and had to call 2 girls in my group after pref to let them know they had been released from recruitment. If a girl slips through to pref round even though a sorority doesn't want her, they can find excuses/make exceptions to not add her to their bid list at all. Also UGA and many other schools don't technically force chapters to take quota additions provided they at least met quota (or have a very small fine that chapters pay if they don't want to take QAs). So yes "technically" sororities could potentially get stuck with anyone who goes to their pref round but their are plenty of ways a chapter can get around this rule most of the time. Also chapters sometimes make huge cuts right before pref if their advisors let them so they're actually more likely to not make quota than to get stuck with girls they don't want. 9 houses at UGA were under quota this year lol

Yes, if you are invited to Pref night and list each house you attend on your pref card, you WILL get a bid. (provided you don't behave so horribly at a house to make them get permission to release you, i.e.- show up drunk or just be a raging biitch and say you hate the house and don't want a bid).

If you are only invited to one house and you list it on your pref card, you are guaranteed a bid to that house. If the house reaches quota before your name is on the bid list, you WILL match as a quota addition. Chapters absolutely DO NOT get to reject quota additions. They know that every single pnm invited to pref must be listed on their bid list and may become a sister.

If you have more than one party invite, you are guaranteed a bid to one of the houses. May not be your 1st choice, though the majority of PNM's do match to their #1.

If you leave one house off your bid card, you are "suiciding" and are NOT guaranteed a bid at all. You are also ineligible for snap bids should any house not make quota. If you suicide, you are eligible for COB should houses be able to participate.

Remember that if you reject the bid you do get, you can't rush again for a year.

Thank you, Go Greek, for putting the right information out there!

For all you know it alls, we have never had variable quotas before. And no, A house does not have to take quota additions.

Wrong. Quota additions come from your own bid list. Anyone who comes to your pref is on your bid list somewhere, therefore if you are asked to take quota additions then you must take them. If you aren't willing to offer them a bid then you don't invite them to pref. You will be told the number of pref invites that you can issue when the different quotas are set.

You are the one that needs to get up to date on NPC policies.
Yes, it is the first year of variable quota at Ole Miss and it is a fairly new option overall. Quota additions have been around for quite a few years and the policies are spelled out in the NPC manual. You don't get to choose if you want them or not.

My chapter has made it a rule not to accept quota additions. Not for the last four years. Our alumni are insistent on keeping pledge classes as small as possible so they are easier to manage.
